Davos Klosters Berg­bahnen AG

Behind Davos Klosters Mountains, or DKM for short, are the companies of Davos Klosters Bergbahnen AG, also known as DKB, and the subsidiaries Bergbahnen Rinerhorn AG and Sportbahnen Pischa AG. In addition to the Jakobshorn and Parsenn / Gotschna mountain railways, DKB owns numerous hotels and restaurants as well as several subsidiaries. In close cooperation with DKB, these companies take care of the daily operations on the respective mountains. Thus many synergies within the company can be taken advantage of – for instance, in the areas of finance and accounting, human resources, and marketing.

Other subsidiaries are Mountain Facilities AG, responsible for the implementation and operation of the holiday apartments and Mountain Experience AG, responsible for the planning and implementation of new mountain experiences.

DKM's business territory covers an area of approximately 150 square kilometres. By comparison, the city of Zurich spans 90 square kilometres. DKM's highest point is Weissfluh’s summit at 2,844 meters above sea level. The main tasks of Davos Klosters Bergbahnen AG include the maintenance and operation of the mountain railway facilities and hotels, ski and sledge runs, and winter hiking trails. In addition, administrative departments work in the background at the headquarters near the Jakobshorn valley station.

In summer, the area boasts a network of 700 kilometres of hiking and biking trails. In winter, a total of 253 kilometres of runs are operated, encompassing 81 slopes and 33 transport facilities. To ensure reliable snow conditions and optimum slopes from mid-November to mid-April, almost 50 percent of all slopes can be supplied with artificial snow.

DKM owns a total of 24 restaurants on Jakobshorn, Parsenn, Pischa and Rinerhorn, some of which are independent while others are managed by tenants. In addition, the company owns seven restaurants and seven bars in the valley, which – with the exception of two bars – are also run by tenants.

The Mountain Hotels and Resorts are managed independently by the company. The Mountain Hotels consist of over 20 accommodation options and 2,000 hotel beds in the valley and in the mountains. They all have one thing in common: The hotels and resorts are centrally located near mountain railway stations and therefore appeal primarily to skiers and other mountain sports enthusiasts.
In addition to the hotels, the Parsenn Resort with 30 modern 2.5- and 3.5-room apartments and the four-star Hotel Waldhuus are managed under the Mountain Resorts brand.

DKM and its leased businesses employ more than 1,200 people. Around 140 employees are employed year-round. In addition, more than 90 seasonal workers are employed in the mountains and in DKM's hotels in summer and more than 400 work here in winter. This makes DKM one of the biggest employers in the Davos Klosters region.
